Games #

I built these on it. Each one is its own repo and each takes blitzkit from crates.io rather than a local checkout, so I’m using the engine the same way you would.

arcade #

An arcade with games built on this engine.

github.com/jvalol/arcade

An arcade showcasing what I’ve built with the engine

pong #

In which i develop a pong game in rust using blitzkit, also an open repo currently in its early stages.

github.com/jvalol/pong

Pong: two paddles, the ball mid flight, and the score at the top

snake #

In which I develop a snake game using blitzkit.

github.com/jvalol/snake

Snake: a nine segment snake winding through two turns in the middle of the board, with a pellet away to the lower left

tessera #

In which I build a game with color on the engine. It’s a little more sophisticated, but it works.

github.com/jvalol/tessera

Tessera: a piece falling, the next one queued beside the well, and the score, level and rows cleared

marble #

In which one rolls a marble across a course of platforms to a goal, against a clock. The first 3D game built on blitzkit.

github.com/jvalol/marble

Marble: the marble on the starting pad, the course of platforms receding to the green goal, gems floating above them

slider #

In which one flies down a tunnel that wanders, through fourteen rings strung along it. You speed up the further you get, from 22 “meters” a second to 70. Scraping the wall slows you down, and so does missing a ring.

github.com/jvalol/slider

Looking down a checkered tunnel bending hard to the right, with a gold ring hanging in the middle distance

starry #

In which one slides fifteen tiles of Van Gogh’s Starry Night back into one picture. One has three lifts to take a tile out and set it down anywhere. If that’s not enough, there are hints.

github.com/jvalol/starry

Starry: the painting cut into sixteen thick tiles in a tray, one square empty, the cypress and the village broken across the wrong squares

lantern #

In which one walks a dark maze carrying two lamps. Put one down and it stays lit to mark your path. It’s fun!

github.com/jvalol/lantern

A candle standing in a corridor, lighting the walls and casting its own shadow, a second candle carried in the foreground, and a dark side passage to the right

securitysweep #

In which one crosses an open yard while four security lights sweep it.

github.com/jvalol/securitysweep

The yard from above: crates scattered across it, two red tripwires reaching two thirds of the way over, a green line at the far end, and four pools of light where the beams fall

carom #

In which one shoots a marble at thirteen others to knock them out of a ring.

github.com/jvalol/carom

A ring drawn on a green table with eleven pale marbles racked in a cross inside it, an amber shooter against the near arm, and two grey marbles come to rest outside the ring

poolhall #

In which one breaks a rack of fifteen. Like pool.

github.com/jvalol/poolhall

A pool table seen from above the head rail, fifteen coloured balls scattered across the far half after a break, the white cue ball among them, and six dark pockets around the cushions

cairn #

In which one takes a tower of blocks apart, one at a time, putting each one pulled on top until it comes down.

github.com/jvalol/cairn

A tower of grained wooden blocks, four to a level and turned a quarter turn each level, leaning with holes through it where blocks have been taken out, one block drawn half out of a middle level, and the ones already taken stacked on the top

cascada #

In which one plays with dominoes.

github.com/jvalol/cascada

A yin and yang drawn in pale dominoes on a dark grey floor, the far half of the outer ring flat and the S half over, the near half and the lower dot still standing
